
Vijay Thalapathy is living the biggest dream of his life as he took oath as CM of Tamil Nadu. The actor-turned-politician’s only aim was to be the CM, and he created his own party, TVK, and worked hard towards making his name in politics. As he is all set to write another brighter chapter of Tamil Nadu’s politics, not many know that one particular incident in childhood changed him completely.
Vijay Thalapathy’s two-year-old sister died in his arms
Vijay Thalapathy’s sister, Vidhya Thalapathy, died at a young age when she was just two years old. As per reports, she passed away after a devastating illness in May 1984. Vijay’s father, S.A. Chandrasekhar, was filming. for the film, Enakkul Naane Needhipathi when the heart-wrenching incident took place. However, it was Vijay who suffered the biggest trauma of his life at a young age. As per many, Vijay’s sister died in his arms, causing him immense pain.

Thalapathy Vijay was earlier known to be a mischievous child, just like other children of his age. However, his talkative and hyperactive personality changed, and he became noticeably quiet, reserved and introverted, a trait that became his personality for years to come. His demeanour is still the same, even after being hailed as the most-loved actor of the South industry.

Vijay Thalapathy kept his sister alive with him as he got a unique car number which 0277, which is his young sister’s date of birth, February 14, 1977. Not only this, he often stated that his fans’ infinite love for him makes up for his sister’s absence in his life. As per him, his sister continues to shower her love on him with his huge fan following. It is Vijay’s way of keeping his sister with him even after her passing long ago.

Vijay Thalapathy won 109 of the 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election. Surprisingly, it was Vijay’s first election as TVK chairman. Vijay took the oath as CM of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2025, in front of his parents, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shobha. Not only his family, but Trisha Krishnan also attended the ceremony at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Veteran leader KA Sengottaiyan also joined the actor’s party after exiting from the AIADMK. He was one of the nine TVK politicians who took the oath of office as Vijay’s cabinet members. However, Vijay Thalapathy’s estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam and their children remained absent from the celebration. The family also kept a distance after Vijay Thalapathy had won the election. On the other hand, Trisha Krishnan had rushed to Vijay Thalapathy’s apartment to celebrate not just her birthday but his win as well.

During a TVK rally, Vijay broke his silence on his divorce matter. However, he didn’t address his relationship buzz with Trisha. Vijay, in the rally without directly naming anyone, stated that some issues are running around, so people should not get hurt in the process of fighting those allegations. He was quoted as saying:
“There are some issues running around in the recent past, isn’t it? I see all of you busy fighting those allegations and getting hurt in the process. In fact, I get hurt when I see you get hurt. I will take care of all that. Let’s get involved in people’s problems. Don’t get hurt about that problem – it’s not worth bothering about. Be confident. Only good things will happen.”
