The longtime president and co-founder of Daystar Television Network, Joni Lamb, left everyone heartbroken as she passed away at the age of 65. The reason for her death hasn’t been officially disclosed. Reportedly, she was facing some health battles, privately, and it got even worse with her back pain. With her passing, the controversies around her started to hit the headlines again.
Joni was married to Marcus Lamb, with whom she formed Daystar. The couple had been married for decades, and it was in 2021 when he passed away. Following the same, within two years, Joni married Doug Weiss, and the duo had been together until her death parted them. As Joni married Doug, really shortly after her first husband’s death, she had to be questioned by people, who asked her how she could even start talking to someone within 7 months of her husband’s passing. In an interview, she had spoken about it, including the fact that it was Marcus who wished for her to remarry.
Marcus Lamb wished his wife, Joni Lamb, to remarry
In an interview with Charisma Media, Joni Lamb reportedly shared that as she got married again within two years of her first husband’s passing, she was somewhat judged for the fact that she even grieved. Joni Lamb said that grief is something that is processed by everyone in different ways. Speaking more about the same, Joni added that her first husband, Marcus, knew her, and wished that she would remarry when he was not there.
The reason for this was that Marcus never wanted his wife to be alone, and thus, there had been multiple times that he asked her to get married again if he died. Joni said that she would get mad about this and she would tell him that he wouldn’t go anywhere, while later, she said, she understood that her first husband actually knew her. She could be quoted as saying:
“Marcus had a kind and loving heart. I can’t tell you how many times he told me, in my kids’ presence, “Now, sweetheart, if anything ever happened to me, I would want you to get remarried.” I would get mad at him and say, “Are you crazy? You’re not going anywhere.” He knew how much I loved him, but he also didn’t want me to be alone. I would tell him I probably wouldn’t get remarried. But little did I know how well my husband knew me.”

Doug Weiss and Joni Lamb crossed paths, when they were not looking for anything. While Joni was dealing with her husband’s passing and had zero wish to be in a relationship, Doug was on the way to finding peace after his divorce from his first wife. Doug was married before, and it’s said that his first wife’s name is Lisa.
Reportedly, Doug and Lisa had been together for years, and finally, in 2017, they opted for divorce. While there’s no official confirmation about the reason for their divorce, some reports claimed that it happened due to Lisa being unfaithful, while some others mention that Doug, in several of his interviews, said that he was neglecting his duties as a husband for a long time. Speaking about how they found each other when they were not looking for it, Doug said:
“I just wanted to please God, and I was now in a different status. Then shortly thereafter, I was asking the Lord, “What am I supposed to do?” He said, “Don’t hunt,” and I knew exactly what He meant. “Don’t hunt for women. Don’t go looking. I got this.” “OK, God,” I said. “I can do that.” And so that’s where we were both at. I wasn’t looking, and she wasn’t looking.”
In the same interview with Charisma Media, Joni Lamb mentioned that she had been getting hints that someone was going to come into her life, even before Doug came. She said that it was right after Marcus’ funeral when Hubie Synn told her that God would put her broken heart together. She also shared an incident when she was getting her makeup done at Daystar, and Shannon Kelly, their head of security, revealed that a dream occurred to her that God would send a man into Joni’s life.
