A while ago, on May 9, 2026, Sonam Kapoor and her husband, Anand Ahuja took to their Instagram handle to share a joint post. In the same, they shared a family photo with both their sons and penned a long and heartfelt note. It is worth noting that the couple kept the face of their sons hidden. Sonam and Anand revealed that they have decided to name their son, Rudralokh Kapoor Ahuja. A part of the caption can be read as:
“In the spirit of the divine force that has once again transformed our lives. Born on the sacred day of Ekadashi, under Vishnu’s grace, our second son feels like a sign, a karmic alignment, a divine pairing with his brother, and a blessing we deeply honour. With love and gratitude, we welcome Rudralokh Kapoor Ahuja.”
Further, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja revealed the name of their newborn son. Well, in the Vedas, Rudra comes from root rud, ‘to roar’, which is the mightiest of the mighty. The couple also explained that the name is deeply connected to their first son, Vayu. For the unversed, Vayu is associated with Vishnu. The caption can be read as:
“In the Vedas, Rudra, from the root rud, ‘to roar,’ is the mightiest of the mighty. The one who eradicates suffering at its source, the divine force behind storms, breath, healing, and renewal. He is deeply connected to Vayu, the prana that moves through all beings. Our firstborn carries the name of Vishnu, the sustainer of life. With Rudra, a sacred continuity emerges. Breath and power. Preservation and transformation. One strengthening the other. Like his name, may Rudra grow to be fearless, compassionate, deeply aware, and a force of strength and light. With gratitude for your love and blessings. Sonam, Anand, Vayu, and Rudra.”

On March 29, 2026, Sonam and Anand shared a joint post to announce the birth of their son. In the same, they expressed their happiness and gratitude on welcoming a son. They also mentioned their son, Vayu and explained that he, too, is overjoyed to be an elder brother. It is worth mentioning that since then, Sonam Kapoor has shared multiple posts with her son; however, she kept the face hidden.

In September 2025, Sonam Kapoor opened up about motherhood during a candid conversation with TOI. During the same, when she was asked if she is planning to return to acting, the actress revealed that currently she wants to focus on her son, Vayu and see him grow. She was quoted as saying:
“I became a mother and wanted to give it as much time as possible – so that I could witness the process of seeing my son grow up. I wanted to enjoy the feeling of being a mother and it has been the most rewarding experience of my life.”
